Mission:
The MASCC Bone Study Group has the mission to develop research and guidelines for prevention and treatment of skeletal complications in patients with cancer. Skeletal complications arise as a result of both the disease and the treatments for various cancers (e.g. aromatase inhibitors and androgen-deprivation therapy). The MASCC Bone Study Group is an interdisciplinary effort with the objective of raising awareness of skeletal complications in cancer patients. Skeletal complications are frequent in those affected by cancer and they can lead to a significant impact on quality of life and shorten survival.

Objectives:
Our objectives include the identification of new targets for the prevention and treatment of bone metastases, to establish guidelines for the management of skeletal complications, and to contribute to patient's knowledge of bone health. Key efforts will be the early identification of bone metastases as well as increased risk of osteoporosis and early intervention as standards of care. The group will also serve as a resource for multicenter clinical trials and translational studies.
