MASCC Antiemesis Tool March 2004
The MASCC Antiemesis Tool (MAT) was developed by members of MASCC to assist patients and oncology professionals in communicating accurately about the prevention and control of nausea and vomiting that may occur with chemotherapy. The concept of the MAT is to provide an easy-to-use and easy-to-evaluate tool to assist in providing the best individual care to patients. Additionally, the tool will aid treatment centers in understanding the effectiveness of their antiemetic strategies.
The group primarily responsible for the development of the tool was composed of nurses, pharmacists, and physicians. These include: Sussanne Borjeson, RN, PhD Rebecca Clark-Snow, RN, BSN Rebecca Finley, PharmD, MS Richard J. Gralla, MD Mark G. Kris, MD Cynthia N. Rittenberg, RN, MN
MASCC is grateful to Jorn Herrstedt, MD; Patricia Hollen, RN, PhD: Judi Johnson, RN, PhD; and Fausto Roila, MD, for their helpful comments and reviews.
MASCC appreciates the unrestricted grant from Merck & Co., Inc., Whitehouse Station, NJ, USA, that was used to develop the MAT.
