Join a Study Group
Participate and become and integral part of worldwide supportive care
MASCC Study Groups play a key role in the organization. Each of the study groups represent an area where supportive care is important, needed, and dependent on evidence. Through study groups, the real “work” of MASCC gets accomplished. It is here that guidelines and clinical assessment and teaching tools are developed, where position paper are written and published, and where new clinical monitoring scales are developed.
Members may join up to 3 study groups. Each group meets at the MASCC annual meeting in person, but corresponds frequently throughout the year. All groups are open to all members. When you join MASCC, you will be asked which study groups you would like to join and you will automatically be added. As a member, if you have changed your focus of interest you can always make another choice. You will find this information in your user profile under member services or in the upper right corner of the MASCC website. Once in your profile, you will find the edit profile link at the bottom of the page.
Ways you can learn about other study groups is to attend their study group meeting at the annual symposium and by visiting their space on the MASCC web site. Feel free to contact the study group chair with feedback and suggestions.
Why join a Study Group? Here are the reasons:
1. Involvement in implementation of projects, surveys, guideline development and other such exciting endeavors.
2. Participation through monitoring the study group web site and finding and reporting on resources for posting.
3. The opportunity to assist in reviewing abstracts, in reviewing education materials, etc.
4. The possibility to meet other professional from around the world who are interested in the same topic.
5. The opportunity to meet known experts in the field who, as MASCC members, volunteer to lead and participate in each of the groups.
