Search for New Editor for Supportive Care in Cancer Begins

MASCC is seeking a new Editor-in-Chief for it's Journal Supportive Care in Cancer
 
 
Four New Members Join the MASCC Board of Directors:
MASCC is pleased to announce that Mellar Davis MD of the United States and Snezana Bosnjak, MD of Serbia were elected by the MASCC Board to complete the unexpired terms of Declan Walsh, MD (US) and Susanne Borjesson, RN, PhD (Sweden) who resigned this spring. The International Society of Oral Oncology (ISOO) elected Joel Epstein, DMD, MSD (USA) as their new representative to the MASCC Board, replacing Douglas Peterson, DMD, PhD who held this position since ISOO first joined forces with MASCC. Thanks to Drs. Borjesson, Peterson and Walsh for their dedicated work. Additionally, Dr. Paul Hesketh, President, appointed Yuer-Hur Lai, RN, PhD from Taiwan to serve until the end of his term, June 2008.
Elections for the Board of Directors will take place in the spring of 2008.

Glauss 

Silvia Wicki, a medical student from Switzerland, received the Best Young Investigator Award for her abstract entitled: "Predicting fever and neutropenia in children with cancer".  Ten other young investigators received awards plus twenty cancer professionals from around the world received Travel Scholarships.

News of Study Group Leadership
New Study Group established:  Dr. Michael Glantz, (USA), has been appointed chair of a newly formed study group, "Neurological complications" which includes cognitive dysfunction and neuropathy). Any member interested in this topic should contact Dr. Glantz at mjg@massmed.org. Dr. Florian Strasser, Switzerland, has been appointed to serve as the Nutrition Study Group Co-chair.  Stepping down from their positions as study group leaders are Dr. Fausto Roila, Italy, who served as Chair of the antiemetic study group and Dr. Andrea Bezjak, Canada, who was co-chair of the quality of life study group.  We thank them for numerous contributions. Rebecca Clark-Snow, (USA) will assume the role of Antiemetic Study Group Chair.

MASCC received an unrestricted grant from Novartis to conduct a questionnaire that will help gain information as to how practitioners treat and manage myalgia and arthralgia This short survey should take less then 5 minutes to complete.  We are looking for a wide range of responses from clinicians around the globe.
