Annual Meeting Scholarships:  Awards, Grants and Symposium Travel Scholarships

Among MASCC’s highest priorities is reaching out to healthcare professionals worldwide who have a strong interest in supportive care. To foster participation in MASCC, scholarships for membership are awarded annually to those who cannot afford the full membership dues.

Membership scholarships are provided to self-nominated individuals in the field of supportive care on a case-by-case basis. These scholarships are designed to support membership for physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, trainees, and other healthcare workers. Scholarship recipients receive complimentary membership to MASCC for one full calendar year.

Scholarships are available to applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant is a physician, nurse, dentist, pharmacist, social worker, psychologist, trainee, or other healthcare professional with an interest in supportive care in oncology.
  • The applicant declares an inability to pay MASCC membership dues.
  • The applicant resides in a resource-limited or developing country (see Eligible Countries).

Applicants who are awarded membership scholarships are expected to actively contribute to MASCC and its endeavors by way of the following: submission of an abstract to the MASCC Annual Meeting, active participation in study group projects, conducting research on supportive care in cancer, or other activities that benefit MASCC and its mission.

These scholarships can be extended, but applicants must re-apply annually. Applicants who request an extension of the membership scholarship beyond one year must provide a statement, along with their request, showing tangible evidence of their contribution, advancement, and/or work within MASCC. This may be by way of the following: submission of an abstract to the MASCC Annual Meeting, active participation in study group projects, conducting research on supportive care in cancer, or other activities that benefit MASCC and its mission.

Beyond three years of membership scholarship, an applicant must provide adequate justification for renewal, such as contributions to the Society’s journal (Supportive Care in Cancer), contribution to the MASCC web page, recruitment of three paying members per year, demonstrated participation in a study group project, abstract presentation at the MASCC Annual Meeting.

A membership application and declaration of financial need should be completed and submitted by mail or email to:
