Part-time Study Group Coordinator and Manager of Sponsor Relationships

MASCC has an opening for a Study Group Coordinator and Manager of Sponsor Relationships. This individual will work virtually (16 hours per week), as well as attend annual international meetings.

The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) is a multidisciplinary organization dedicated to research and education of supportive care professionals worldwide. The mission of MASCC is to improve the supportive care of people with cancer, from diagnosis, through treatment and survival to the end of life. Founded in 1990, MASCC now includes members from over 70 countries. Because supportive care encompasses all aspects of care, it involves a variety of disciplines and specialists. Membership is open to medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and others interested in supportive care in cancer. 

MASCC Study Groups are interest groups, each devoted to a specific topic area in supportive care. Members conduct research, develop practice guidelines, create educational materials for practitioners to share with patients, and work to raise awareness about issues in supportive cancer care. The Study Group Coordinator is expected to nurture and support these activities, as well as the members who volunteer to participate in them.

As the Manager of Sponsor Relationships, this individual will engage with MASCC’s sponsors, typically from the pharmaceutical industry.  The individual must be able to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders with the highest degree of professionalism.

Responsibilities as Study Group Coordinator

  • Manage Study Group operations
  • Manage 16 Study Groups and provide services to help them achieve their goals
  • Provide liaison services from Study Groups to MASCC/ISOO leadership and Annual Meeting planners
    • Assist Study Groups with annual workshop applications and presentation at Annual Meeting
    • Coordinate Study Group volunteers for abstract review and other requested services
    • Organize and schedule Study Group business meetings at the Annual Meeting
    • Provides status updates on Study Groups to MASCC’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors
    • Be the staff point person for the Membership, Publications, and Guidelines Committees

Responsibilities as Manager of Sponsor Relationships     

  • Work with MASCC’s appointed meeting management company to identify relevant sponsors and their key personal; solicit and manage sponsorships
  • Develop and oversee annual sponsor budget
  • Manage sponsor relationships, especially with members of MASCC’S Corporate Advisory Council
  • Provide status updates on sponsorship to MASCC’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors                


  • Strong understanding, knowledge, and navigation of biotech and/or pharmaceutical compliance issues in sponsorship
  • 5+ years of experience working in relationship management and project coordination
  • Can-do attitude: no task is too small or too large for the individual
  • Excellent communication skills (communicate concisely), attention to detail, and strong influencing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook/Exchange, Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as Skype
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport with colleagues and industry representatives
  • Ability to travel on company business (typically 2 meetings a year)
  • Must be proactive and results oriented
  • Interest in encouraging participation of members in MASCC activities and in being part of a growing organization
  • Experience working in nonprofit organizations and an understanding of supportive care in cancer is considered a plus.
